BRIC (typically rendered as "the BRICs" or "the BRIC countries") is an acronym that refers to the fast-growing developing economies of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. The acronym was first coined and prominently used by Goldman Sachs in 2001. According to a paper published in 2005, Mexico and South Korea are the only other countries comparable to the BRICs, but their economies were excluded initially because they were considered already more developed[3]. Goldman Sachs argued that, since they are developing rapidly, by 2050 the combined economies of the BRICs could eclipse the combined economies of the current richest countries of the world. The four countries, combined, currently account for more than a quarter of the world's land area and more than 40% of the world's population.
Goldman Sachs did not argue that the BRICs would organize themselves into an economic bloc, or a formal trading association, as the European Union has done. However, there are strong indications that the "four BRIC countries have been seeking to form a 'political club' or 'alliance'", and thereby converting "their growing economic power into greater geopolitical clout". On June 16, 2009, the leaders of the BRIC countries held their first summit in Yekaterinburg, and issued a declaration calling for the establishment of a multipolar world order.
It is very interesting that Korea and Mexico are the onyl countries comparable to the brics, and that Korea was originally supposed to be one of the "BRICK'S", but was left out due to its developed status and its size.
Would a united Korea be more of a player in the future?
It would be interesting to see a nuclear-armed, democratic Korea on china's doorstep, lol. And perhaps a mutual alliance with Japan in order to balance the power in Asia with China? hmmm, this would be very interesting indeed

@pleasereason I always need to clarify in arguments like these that the guys I really dislike are the US Federal Government, not Americans in general. That seems to make most Americans real friendly because they hate their government too. :) You ask me, the Tree of Liberty needs to be irrigated again for a change. But I don't live there so YMMV.

but nothing compares to the U.S. military spending even China, Brazil has sufficient power to repel any invasion and is investing in new technologies, but the U.S. is dangerous to say the elect predestined that makes no sense leads to constant wars could exercise loftpower.

@gustaverds Also about the whole retarded starvation thing, there is ample wildlife in my country. All over it with the exception of SOME of the desert. Even if everything went to shit here, the very worst case scenario (save nuclear weapons wiping out all life) I can grow and hunt all my own food, with just a few hours of work every day.
Just so you know, the American people have done you no wrong. Our rulers do as they please. They are your enemy, AND ours. So think before you spew hate.

@gustaverds What you and so many other people all over the world are doing is showing this disgusting nationalistic pride. Way too many Americans do it too. It leads to the types of racism and 'otherization' that gives governments the leaway to commit atrocities. If the views you have espoused in your comment are really yours, then in 100 years Brazil will be just as evil as the U.S., and it will the fault of YOU and your countrymen. Same rulers, same peasants, different capital. That is all.

@gustaverds The tragic thing is, you are being hateful towards me because of my skin color. There is absolutely no justification for this bullshit racism. It just shows how truly ignorant you are to assume all of us are opposed to immigration. You basically hate me even though you don't know me, just because of where I was born and my skin color. That makes you just as evil as a Columbus.
That is the same ignorance that has allowed our wealthy and your wealthy to take advantage of all of us.
