I was very happy that you took care of Mr. Snake but please prevent other snakes from eating your Purple Martins by installing a predator guard on your pole. A slick 6 inch round by 4 ft high PVC pipe would do the trick! You can also buy some commercially or use bird netting wadded up and applied to the pole.
