During their stay in India, the presidential couple went on a well-orchestrated charm offensive. In his big speech, U.S. President Barack Obama even said that without Gandhi, he might not have become President of the United States.
But how did First Lady Michelle Obama fare when it came to fashion diplomacy? We took a closer look at some of her outfits during her three-day stay in India.
Before the Obamas arrived, we interviewed White House fashion blogger Mary Tomer to get an idea of what Michelle Obama was likely to wear. As expected, she referenced Indian culture and wore Indian-American designers aplenty.
"She paid tribute to India's fashion heritage, wore Indian-American designers yet stayed true to her style," Ms. Tomer told India Real Time at the close of the visit. "I think she got the balance just right."
The First Lady showed she can pull off bo-ho, bon-ton and even shake a leg.
