Access is important to independence, but what happens if your own home is not totally accessible? What if you cant cook or do dishes because your counters or stove are too high and youre in a wheelchair, what if you cant enjoy your sunroom on a beautiful day because there is a step down and the doorway is too narrow. Worst of all your cant use your bathroom because there is no room to transfer from your wheelchair to the toilet or no roll in shower. Lets take a look at how Derendas life was changed when a handful of strangers volunteered there time to make her home accessible.
