Stillwater - Mind Bender

Stillwater was an American band of the 1970s, which played Southern rock with a folk flair. Their song Mind Bender charted in the top 100 singles in 1978. Cameron Crowe, writer for Rolling Stone magazine, first heard Stillwater playing in Macon Georgia at Unlce Sams night club and Lakeside Park. He ended up using the name "Stillwater" for his fictional band in his movie "Almost Famous." This group was from the Phil Walden stables of Capricorn Records...early 70's. Jimmy Hall, the lead singer was a member of Wet Willie, another band that recorded on the Capricorn label, one of the best labels EVER!

@cyberties - The Jimmy Hall who founded Wet Willie and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Male Vocalist on the Jeff Beck Flash album is not the same Jimmy Hall from Stillwater.

To set the record straight, the movie Almost Famous was based on Cameron Crow's life and the band was fictional. THIS is the real Stillwater band that has nothing to do with the movie.

I have the album from the 70s i wouldn't take anything for it. There are more great music on it than this one. If they are still playing i'd love to come hear them. I only live about 3 hours from macon, ga. This was the most requested song at all of the parties that i had in the 70s. I had plenty of them too. One of the best albums ever made!! I grew up in the wilds of Michigan in the 70's. The only rock station we could get there had a cool dj,he would play this one every night! Good thing for your posting this tune,I havent heard it since I was a kid,thanks!
