U Penn study compared 2 groups of 6th and 7th graders. Abstinence educated group were less sexually active. Study suggests abstinence may actually lead to a decrease in pregnancy and stds.

  • You can't test abstinence only education on JUNIOR high schoolers. First of all... I think most people AGREE that JUNIOR high schoolers should NOT be having sex in the first place!!! It doesn't mean anything to say that abstinence education works on THEM. A LARGE majority of junior high schoolers are NOT sexually mature. This study is outrageous. It doesn't prove ANYTHING about abstinence education except that little kids don't fuck as much as grown ups

  • Just compare US to EU and you'll see how well that abstinence only compares to sex ed only.

    But like omgiownk said, it's fox so what did you expect. They are just wrong, it's that simple.

  • People tend to have less issue with abstinence-focused education. It's abstinence *only* that is deemed useless. From what the newscaster said, the program in question was abstinence-focused.
