INDIANAPOLIS, IN—The Indianapolis Museum of Art today announced an exhibition in collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Julie Dash titled Smuggling Daydreams into Reality: Yesterday, Today and Forever. The exhibition will present short films produced by area high school students over the course of their participation in the IMAs Museum Apprentice Program. The students were mentored by Dash over a period of seven months as they created a series of films exploring the concept of dreams deferred and dreams realized.
The exhibition also will feature a documentary that chronicles the students creative process throughout the apprenticeship. Visitors to the exhibition can contribute a representation of their own past, present and future dreams to a dream network of visitor-created artwork. Additional free drop-in art making projects for all ages will be offered Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. during the exhibition. Smuggling Daydreams into Reality will open August 8, 2009, in the Museums Star Studio and will run through January 18, 2010.
I'm so sad that it's over... *sniff*
