I too have had sets that took weather well and kept hunting. Because I prefer not to use any sort of pan covers I sometimes get bit by mother nature and have to clear pans after rains.

@barbielover34 very true, ive had a set in great working order two weeks after setting and it done went through 3 rains. all i had to do was re-apply urine and it connected with a big tom cat that had been in the area

try putting sandwich bags over the trap before covering it. these keeps dirt from clogging the trap so it doesnt work properly. also, peet moss works great to keep from freezing.

how many total, i only got 2 grays this year and 3 reds, i also caught a young coyote ( i decieded to let him grow up a little
i have been setting dirt hole sets and they have been getting dug up what can i do to fix this?

This is typically a bedding problem or scent problem. If your trap is not bedded firmly and the trap shifts under the weight of a paw it is dug and discovered. Older animals get keen to scent and poorly bedded traps. After awhile if they smell that smell, bedded correctly or not they will dig em. Coons are also notorious for digging. If its flipped over entirely, yet unfired, its probably a coon.
