Mummering has a long history in Newfoundland, I would go out mummering myself at home.

During Christmas, people dressed up in silly clothes and covered faces would visit people's homes and entertain the residents with dancing and music. After the residents guess everyone's identities, the mummers would be rewarded with treats, alcoholic beverages, and purity syrup.

In small communities like the one I am from, this was the closest thing to a pub-crawl you could get to since there are no bars.

  • What a great idea. Now incorporate Food bank collection, hostage Wheelbarrows, Confetti guns, and candy throwing.

Could you imagine visiting a senior citizens home and the memories that would come flooding back!

  • Awesome video! This day was sooo much fun! It's my friends & I doing all the dancing starting at 2:52. Thanks for this add!
