Fascinating and affectionate look at the Manchester Ship Canal. Looks back at it's history and the remaining industry that uses the waterway.

  • Manchester Ship Canal, what a amazing link. Manchester was a truely radical place many years ago, a port 30 miles inland. Never to be repeated. What a shame that the city in so called regeneration is such a mess.

  • Amazing footage.

Poor buggers, living in the end of their era.

  • I wish I was had lived in the days of industrial Britain.

  • When the oil runs out, the canal will come back into its own...

  • Amazing to think what Manchester has done in the past. Mostly gone mow, no heavy industry left, all pretend jobs and money generation by foolish unsustainable means.

  • i can remember seeing those really tall cranes driving around manchester city when the drivers were on lunch brakes. they would go to the front of each traffic light and by straddling the other traffic always be first.

  • ships do still use the man ship canal but not as regular as it used to be due to other means of transport and import..
