Did Amy Holmes just refer to the GOP notion of giving ear to African-Americans as "Spade Work"? I have never heard of this term before. Either a very poor choice of words or an unfortunate double-entendre.

From CNN's "The Situation Room" September 28, 2007

  • Spadework means preparation for an activity. It is not Spade Work, it is spadework. There is nothing racist about this and I 100% agree with Holmes.

  • Nothing is wrong with her hair, most blacks have hair even curlier than that....but, I guess something must be wrong with that too, right. It's great that she is natural, instead of using a perm or straightening tool. Unless, you believe that every group can where there hair natural, except for blacks....that in itself is self-defeatus and insecure...same mentality of a little black slave.

  • @BigBlue0002 Black people are conservative by nature: marriage, money, family ... all conservative. The democrats are against all of those notions. The Republican party has always been about boot straps and equality. the Democrats have NEVER been about equality. I don't care who you talk to, welfare is not equality. In fact, without welfare, food stamps and social security the country ran fine. the new deal has plunged up into 100 years of horrible economics.

  • @Cobhammar

Racism=Hating people on the basis of their race.

Louis Farrakhan is a Democrat, appeals to Democrats, and he's a racist. Jeremiah Wright, Sharpton, Jesse "It's okay for me to make violent threats against the person currently in the White House" Jackson, Robert freaking Byrd a KKK member for God's sake, Harry "no negro dialect" Reid, need I go on?

    It's so fucking easy.

  • @MyTotalRemedy couldnt what you just said about the NAACP with democrats, also be said about Fox News with republicans? and sorry, nowadays, if you're a racist, you're probably a conservative. its just a fact.

  • @zeragito Ah... I think we actually agree on something. I couldn't agree more...

  • @BigBlue0002 Exactly. I think the two-party system is a disaster. Proportional voting system might help, with an amendment in the constitution that stops congress from blocking an incumbent government's bill or bringing a government down by vote of no confidence, without offering an alternative, that is supported by a 2/3 majority of congress itself. This would protect government from the chaos of bickering small parties and oblige parties and coalitions to solidify their support-base...

  • @zeragito LoL... Democrat... Republican... These days, ALL political parties pander to "special interests" and the powerful, wealthy elite. (Koch brothers ring a bell?) Corrupt, costly government? LoL... For a minute I thought you were talking about that Republican George H. W. Bush; with all those "no bid" contracts during the "weapons of mass-distraction" war and conviction of the VP's chief-of-staff Scooter Libby on perjury and obstruction.

    Seems conservatives have "colllective amnesia".

  • @BigBlue0002 Instead of keeping with true liberal ideology (which holds that social justice is a means to promote individual freedom and independence, not collectivism and state dependency), the Democratic party has become a party run by a powerful, wealthy elite who keep people dependent on their corrupt, costly government. Maybe that's why some Democrats (black and otherwise) are moving away. Blame your flaws not those that walk away from you. Going Republican is stupid though, I agree.

  • @BigBlue0002

Jackson messes things up for black people. He overuses the race card, messes up race relations, and if you care, he threatened violence (castration) against Barack H. Obama.

Sometimes they are given to black people. Some black people, though, make it on their own.

  • Black republicans... How you can be part of a political entity that marginalizes your race and ignores their issues and aspirations is beyond me. Oftentimes, black republicans have divorced themselves of the "black experience" and a "black identity" and many, quite frankly, have no "soul". They don't identify with the African-American community and feel better in a less "multi-ethnic" party.
