CTV Vancouver New Fire Truck Piece

CTV Vancouver shows off our new VFRS Fire Trucks. That's me working the pump panel as well as raising the aerial of the new Ladder 7. Doug Booth and Monte Watson are also featured prominently. The trucks are a joy to drive and a pain in the ass to master pumping. They will be a benefit in the end, but there are some growing pains.

What would the point of pumping just air be?

I'm assuming that the water/foam air is just a CAFS.

...almost none. except we like to run straight water thru the hose to clean out all the foam, then blow out air to 'dry' the inside of the hose. In case of a water rescue you can fill up the hose with air and send it out to the victim as a floatie - you'd use a cap or nozzle to act as a plug on the open end.

it can pump just air, just water, water and foam, water/foam and air. the operator can also adjust the amount of air to water/foam mixture to change the consistency of the foam exiting the nozzle; from wet water to foam that approximates shaving cream.
