On my second visit to the doctor, I'm apparently doing well. She gave me a thumbs up on the internal stitches that I'll probably pass in a week or two. I will return in 4 weeks for the final check up (barring any injury from over doing). By that visit I'll be back on the job, which I know will be challenging for me energy-wise.

Since the last vlog I drove about a mile and that was about all I could handle. I was exhausted for a day. I will actually try a solo drive to another medical appt tomorrow. Otherwise I am leaving the driving to Kate.

Oh, and I've lost 23 lbs of water weight -- the surgery IV-caused edema in my legs after 6 days of elevating them. Lots of bathroom time. Ah - the other fun thing is I'm now having hot flashes after last week's constant feeling of freezing to death. My ovaries are just trying to restart themselves.

The doctor confirmed that the overwhelming and inconsistent fatigue I feel is completely normal. One instance - I was co-hosting a Prop 8 trial liveblog with Americablog. I was up and set up the settings on my blog, wrote up and posted about it, and participated for about 15 minutes and then -- boom -- I hit the wall. My body just said "go to sleep." I walked over to the sofa and did a faceplant onto it, and slept for 4 hours. It was that intense. So strange. I realize this means I really cannot predict my energy level for a good long while. But I'm healing and just need to be patient.

  • Pam, don't lift. After my hysterectomy, my lazy brother wouldn't bring in groceries. I ended up with a nasty hernia. You'll know when it's okay to lift, and do so with your legs.

As for driving, I delayed my start since I drive a stick. Take it easy on the physical side, but do keep up your walking.

When the hot flashes kick in full force, you'll be happy for cold. Purchase a few huge towels to cover night sweat spots and avoid multiple nightly sheet changes.

    You look great, btw.

  • Hope you continue to heal well. Pain and discomfort are no fun, that's for sure. Good to hear you are gradually able to be more active as I'm sure that helps too. You are a treasure that we need at 100% performance.

  • you are looking good
