  • Nice...

  • @SpinGoldmusic

    thanks :)

  • Hey Dave...cool bass man! Is that a nitro finish there too? Kinda looks like it on the video. Man...I miss the days when most guitars were painted in nitro instead of the mondo thick poly finishes nowdays. Damn environment!!!! haha. Sounds killer.

  • @geetar4yerears

    thin skin Nitro lacquer

  • Hi Dave, I've got a G&L L5000 and I love it too. It's quite similar to your 4 string there but has the one piece 5 pole P style pick up and it has a metal pick guard in black textured paint, the body is also black.

  • @James62

    sounds cool !!

  • That was bull crap that they made him change the head-stock. He owned Fender lol. I mean granted the new headstock looks cool but still really?

  • @eadvs2 glad i checked the comments before I made this one...I've got an '89 SB1 with the split MFDs and they are awesome.

  • @geetar4yerears i went HEAAAAVY into this a while back.

    1. nitrocellulose is illegal in some states

    2. the finish wouldnt last long and guitars would start looking terrible afte a while, though today we think it looks BAD ASS.

    3. with a thin enough poly finish, which you can check by unscrewing the strap button and looking in, there would be no audiable tonal difference.

    4. its cheaper.

    5. some guitar companies still do use nitro.

    6. yeah damn environment.

    so thats why. :D ROCK

  • @john3luzny same here dude. It was originally my dad's, but he gave it to me. Playin it about a year now, very nice bass to for me to start on!

  • i got one exactly like it!

  • 1985 and part of 1986, the SB1 and SB2 P-style pickups were made by Schaller. G&L wanted to release the 2nd generation SB1s and SB2s, but their new pickups weren't ready. Schaller got a short contract, so that bass is relatively rare, not only for the pre-lawsuit headstock.

  • Im getting a honeyburst sb-2 so i wanted to hear the mfd split pickup from a different source, id only heard it from this one other place and on the one ive been trying out. still havent heard it with an ash body though. THANKS MAN! CHEERS!

  • Oh HELL yes, I've wanted to see this guy for a while. sounds kickass.

  • You got any rabbits for sale Man?
