  • @bcschmerker - The air horn on 4449 was mostly used during it's service days on the SP. I heard that 2467, a P-8 "Pacific" was fitted with an air horn because the SP had "sound-activated" crossing gates that didn't work with the whistles.

  • The crew know how to inch this built-for-speed 4-8-4 Lima at speeds more typical of the Shay (another Lima product). BTW, any vids where the steam horn atop the smokebox is used? The Southern Pacific thought the horn more effective under highball conditions.

  • There's the 4449's good old steam whistle sound. I hope that whistle sound returns again someday soon enough.

  • Finally someone shoots trains in HD. I wanna fricken Hug ya. (just kidding) :)

  • @staydput - Yard limits, actually. Speed limit through there is 10 mph also because of the Steel Bridge trains must cross.

  • One look at the rail tells you why the loco goes so slow.

    All beat up.

  • Thats a beauty!! very good colors too,.....keep them roling!! greets Ruud

  • good video..

but you cant beat British steam loco's :)
