How to use the TI-84 to perform one variable statistics function, 1-Var Stats, which gives the sample mean, xbar; the population mean, mu; the sample and population standard deviations,Sx and sigma-x; the sum of x and x^2; the sample size, n; and the five number summary: min, Q1, med, Q3, and max.

  • when you put the data in the calc, does it have to be in order?

  • @icsk8freak No, the data does not need to be in any particular order to use this function. The 1-Var Stats will still give you the five number summary (min, Q1, med, Q3, max) without the entered data being in order.

Though there is no need to order for 1-Var Stats, there is a separate function you can use if you want to order your data, after you've entered data into, say, L1. Do Stat > SortA(L1) > Enter, and it will sort L1 in ascending order. SortD will sort in descending order.
