"Shocked that they got the boot"? Google Whiffenpoofs and look at their site. They have a full time business manager, other staff, a store, and a jammed performance schedule that makes Big Time State School Football look like a minor distraction.
Thank goodness someone sends the jet to use every weekend.... I kid you not- this is Yale.
And yes, these Poofs were amazing!! They may have had to take a dive to go sing for alums in D.C., but the work at this show really tightened them up and cut

@okonh0wp 'Scuse me? Half of Yale grew up in the place you did, and busted ass in a public school. Private school can strangle your chances at an Ivy admission. No beat box means superb training, they don't need the crutch. Choral singing of this type- no beatbox- is very ancient. Be glad somebody here does it, in Europe a capella with no spit flying is called a night out drinking. Go to a pub in Wales. Or America pre-1922.

So, nobody expected Freddy in full evening dress did they? They expected Grace Kelly... LMAO! First night was supposed to be a "this is who we are" song. What a great choice! And I keep coming back and looking at this because it's so interesting, the song, the performance, the style of singing, how just bizarre it is that men have to apologize for wearing tails. Men weat evening clothes all over still! Sound quality is much better now; Wonder why?

Joel Gray! That's who I've been trying to think of...

Ivy league performance ! Super !

@scorzi i didn't say that they should or shouldn't have beat boxed. it was more the introductory video and stuff. they just seemed like kids raised in country clubs and private schools who'd never lived normal lives. i didn't feel like i could relate to them. i'd like to hope i'm mistaken. i did eventually enjoy them and felt sad to see them go, but my first impression of them was pretty negative

@kimghomes1082 Check out a young Frankie Valle, same falsetto.
The judges confused this contest with American Idol. These guys were in a class by themselves.

I'll admit their second song wasn't very good, but this performance ALONE should have been enough to win them Sing Off. Lol!!
