Haha you're right! Stereotypes are what they are, it's when people use negative stereotypes to tell you who you are, that's where the problems arise. Great observation though!

Hey there! My grandma's first language is Spanish, she speaks very little English (although she would say her English is great). She raised me and only spoke to me in Spanish, so yes, I do speak it. She was an orphan and received a very poor education, so her Spanish isn't very sophisticated and after I learned all that she could teach, I gravitated towards English in school as there was much more for me to learn. I love my heritage and I'm always trying to find ways to learn more about it! :)

my english is pretty good also; my accent is hard to pick out(down here in florida anyways). however, if i spend time speaking spanish for more than 2 days, i develop a heavy accent again. parents are mexican, but im american raised with a mexican culture as a background. its great that you know more than one language and are working on a third, im starting japanese and hopefully will be able to master it(hopefully, lol)

Oh. ans as far as sometime stereotypes are based on reality

? Uhm, I dont think we would even have stereotypes if they were NOT based in reality. I am not saying thatthey are good. or bad or in between. But they exist and they are what they are. Like I am a very gay man, BUT, I have no concept of hair care or doing hair, or even styling someone else hair, but guess what? There are alot of homos out there that do hair! so? what does that make me? Heterosexually challenged? LOL

Great, But do you SPEAK Spanish? Your English is perfect! Spanish is my 2nd language. But I am a Gringordo of 46 years, I have spoken Spanish for more than 30 years. Here in Central PA, I have A LOT of Hispanic friends that don't speak Spanish. A Gringordo like me should not speak Spanish better than your grandma. I know Hispanic people that would be hard pressed to speak Spanglish! My heritage is PA Dutch. That is why I am learning German. people need to keep in touch with their roots.!
