Mahatma chose the hymn Abide with me aptly. It is such a wonderful hymn. I hope they will retain it forever. It lingers around as a prayer on the Republic day.
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see—
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

Thank you very much for the prompt update of the Beating Retreat 2012. Infact I was eagerly awaiting your update. But this year we lacked the time immemorial western tunes. But thank God "Abide with me fast falls the eventide" the favourite hymn of Gandhiji was retained. It should be preserved also in the years to come.We miss the traditional narration of Komal G.B. Singh also. I once again thank you.
