Cheapo LED lights are just as good, if you are unsure if you need this or not, you probably dont.
You usually just miss out on the various settings and waterproofness/ruggedness.
This light has one thing going for it wich is it's small size but I can honestly say I regret paying though my nose for one because: 1. I live in a place where it is almost never completely dark because of streetlights and so on. 2. I will probably only use this when Geocaching at night or in a self defense situation.

You sound so obnoxious it's unbelievable.
Fuck off.

The Fenix lights are the best. I have the PD20 R2 version. Its an amazing flashlight. very small and super bright at 190 lumens in turbo mode.Great for the outdoors. If you are looking for a bright but small and affordable light, go with the Fenix LD01. I own that one too and its just perfect for everyday tasks at 80 lumens. Can't go wrong with Fenix.
What do you think of the newer PD20 R2?

@SevereTstormFan I have not got an R2 PD20 because I am happy with the PD20 I have now for backup purposes. My main light is always a two cell light. However if it is as good as the PD30 R2 and distance is what you want from your light then it would be a very perfect choice to make.

is it a momentary on/off or a click for on and another for off? i need a light under $70...with strobe and momentary on.

This light uses clicks to alter the modes so momentary is not an option with this light. If you want a fenix light that can do momentary i suggest the TK10 or TK11

surefires go bright first, fenix go dim first, which actually is more useful unless you get int o tactical situations all the time

Yes if you leave it in normal mode. If you leave it in turbo mode, you get brightest as the first mode as soon as you turn the light on.
