So I heard she married a white guy and every club in the country got to hear about it for the next, SEVEN YEARS.
I guess she got more mileage out of that joke than the car she wanted.

@moxypirate it's only a long time if you've heard the joke before. Club comedians who don't have TV specials take years to hone good jokes into great ones. Of course, if you tell that joke to millions of people at once, you have to retire it, and I'm sure she has. Gag writing and stand-up involves being fearless in the moment, and then reading the audience's reaction to every word so you can tell it better next time. Any touring comedian will have notebooks of jokes they're still working on.

Ehhh amateur comedian myself...but I think she nailed it...though I prefer she use the first set where she says I really wanted a new "truck". Though the Fuuuuhhhcked up is perfect.

Unusual video. Brings up thoughts on the process of 'seeding' joke ideas within the 'frame' of an audience tested "set up and tag."
Aisha Tyler's video gives us a peek at the birth of a joke from the anatomy of the 'ad-lib.

i love watching the evolution of a joke... and to see how much of comedy isn't about an unchanged bit, but reading the crowd's reaction and changing accordingly
