Christchurch NZ driving Land rover series 2A as hard as possible but still below speed limit. Laughable really.

  • there goes 20 bucks worth of gas in 5 minutes :p ive got a holden 3.3 in my series 3 and it was a bit slow (3500+rpm to do the ton) so i put rangey diff heads in it and bigger tyres, worst mistake ever - it does 140+kph easily now, landrovers just arent sposed to go that fast :D better on gas but less 4wd ability too, im going back to original diffs.....

  • @toadecks I run the standard LWB diffs with a Fairy overdrive strapped on to the gearbox. It'll cruse at 90 kph all day. Top speed is around 120 kph, but you have to be awake to drive that fast in this old girl. I use it everyday, and enjoy it plenty. There's other cars in the shed, but there's something cool about turning up in an old landy that makes me like driving it. Just got new tyres, 7.50X16 Road gripper, (f type). I'll test them in the hole featured in "You can do it" video.

  • @roastoo00ooveges ahhh nice i wish i could afford an overdrive :) mine is on 32x11.5x15's atm big fat muddys, theres something about turning up in a beasty landy that says "im gonna drive right overtop of your nissan cefiro if u dont get out of my way" (which i actually did once btw, cefiro got its roof crushed in :p) i've got an A-frame on the old girl now for long distance trips behind the van (3litre diesel) tows it with ease, and so so cheap... petrol is just way too expensive these days..

  • @toadecks Petrol is cheap if you dont mind going without food. We took this old beast away for Christmas last year. The 2000 kms traveled with three people packed in, and all the camping gear was a blast! The journey was as good as the places we went. We visited some quite remote places, and got away from the madness that is the summer holidays. We were waved at by all and when we held up traffic people seemed to understand! No money could buy my landy off me. It's true love.

  • @roastoo00ooveges i also get the "what kind of V8 is that?" question all the time when i pull up at a garage or something... I dont think V8's can compete for low RPM torque like the 202 puts out (mine is an older high compression 202)

  • @toadecks The Holden motor is well suited. There's plenty of richer Landy owners who poke their nose high when you tell them what you have. I just tell them I have a WOF and REGO, and that I get to drive it everyday. I dont care for their weekend bush bashers too much. I'm ready and willing to go off road anytime the route allows, on A/T tyres, without a roll cage, or rope hanging off the back. Where will the terrano's be in 40 years? They'll be bean cans! Yee ha.
