Where were you in '62? This shoulda been on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Woulda given it a whole new life.... Oh well, I'm glad I'm diggin' it!
-
Not church organ music. No siree! That B-3 is screamin'! This one has got the angels' feet a-tappin'! Dig!
-
KING TONE all the way! Jimmy was (and is) bruisin'! Thank you, Ernie Anderson (aka Ghoulardi) and Big Chuck! Cleveland tv in the early 1960s would have never been the same without you guys (and this righteous number by Jimmy McGriff)!

great great song waouuu....oh and there s a fan of justin bieber and lady gaga who didn t like it poor person.....thanks for this ....RAFFI

@waldo2384 No it's not your speakers, "Screamin" just doesn't have that strong a bass line. Of course that's probably how McDuff wanted it. I might have that song on an album somewhere. McGriff had the gospel sound to his music especially on his music recordings on Sue Records between 1962-65. I do believe Ray Charles got the idea for "I've Got A Woman" from a church hymn

@coolwafferman That same walk-up bass line on this one is also used by Jimmy Smith and Groove Holmes to build tension on blues, but then they usually walk it back down. McGriff keeps it going here until the fadeout.
-
@coolwafferman Yeah, I can't even hear a bassline on Screamin'. Is it my bad computer speakers, or is it just not there?
-
@waldo2384 "Screamin'" is rough, but what makes "I've Got a Woman" rougher is the hard driven bass line.
-
@coolwafferman Jack McDuff's "Screamin'" is even rougher!
