With the tail pull thing, it doesn't even look like it's pulling that much on the tail.
The horse looks happy and healthy :)
Plus the woman does not seem to big.

What??? She's not too big. Ponies were bred to carry people and huge heavy packs. They're just as strong as horses, often stronger. Ponies smaller than that can carry dead sheep and deer that weight far more than her.
The only thing I object to is the canoe tied to the tail. Tying anything to an animal's tail is a terrible idea. She should be holding the rope or have it tied to the saddle.

Yea. The pony looks alright. But the woman might want a bigger one. And is it just me, or she looked like she was using the reins to much. Try using your seat and legs more. Turning a horse's head does nothing if they don't want to go that way. It is a good way to fall though.

The pony looks pretty healthy. He's obviously not being hurt. He looks like he doesn't mind his job either. The tail thing is a little...odd...but if you've ever had to help a cast horse you know he can stand a tug or two on the tail...doesn't look like a heavy load either. And he's not a cat...he can muck about in water just fine. What's cruel? A wormy pony without food, water, exercise, companions, foot, tooth and vet care...this little guy looks like he's doing fine.
