It's a Can-Am Spyder. Takes up the space of a car, total road hog, not convenient to park like a motorcycle, heavier than a bike, and expensive too. Looks like a snowmobile on wheels. I personally hate it... but hey, if you wanna marry it, be my guest. *yawn* Now if it had a futuristic overhead covering (like a car) for aerodynamics and rain protection, or it got 100+ to 200+ mpg, I would buy one. To me, if you're going to embark on a design, it should have a significant technical advantage someway or another. Furthermore, if you're going to attempt something radical, go all the way. They should have made this with a low recumbent postion (low center of mass), with fairings that are electronically controlled to behave like airplane sails to assist high speed cornering. If it could outperform both a car (in cornering) and a bike (in acceleration), then at least it could have bragging rights. To me, this is just another car. Makes you wonder if these guys did a market or focus-group survey to see if the Spyder was indeed what riders wanted. I also noticed that I doesn't countersteer like a motorcycle, and steers like a car.

  • is it legal to ride it without a helmet ?!

  • sleeplessintokyo - in Hawaii, you don't need a helmet if you have a motorcycle license. If you have a permit, you need a helmet.

  • If you're the owner of the Spyder, sorry for criticizing your tricycle. I couldn't help it.

  • What can I say. The Can-Am is a comprimise. My wife won't let me get a bike due to the lack of stability, and it has an increased risk of tipping over. But, she is more warm to a Spyder. (I told her the cost was 3x as much, and she did not care.)

  • haha I agree! It's only for rich people who want to feel like they are bikers when they're too chicken to REALLY ride a motorcycle.

  • great thing is that you only need a car driving lisence, not a motorbike lisence.

  • Only two wheeled vehicles require a helmet, any vehicles with three or more wheels do not require a helmet.... I would wear one anyway... in fact sometimes I where one when in my car!... it depends who is driving...

  • I thought you had to wear a helment with that???

  • This thing doesn't work..you see..when driving a car, the seat hugs you when cornering; when riding a motorcycle, the rider lean with the motorcycle. but this thing...it's as flat as a car when cornering, but there is nothing to hug the driver/rider.

  • Meh I would never get that CBR or zx for me (Maybe a R* :P )

  • I was always a fan of the T-Rex, although they are about twice the money of a Can-am, they offer supercar performance. But IMHO they don't replace a motorcycle. To me a T-Rex is a really fast go cart for the street, and a Can-am is ????
