Elton John - Live In New York at Central Park, September 13 1980 Phildelphia Freedom

"Elton John Goes Quackers" A free concert performed for 450,000 people in the park.
Released in 1981 as a cable-TV special (and home video).

I Read it was a concert promoting "green friendly" New York City, trying to save trees or plant more, there were shirts being passed out, people were on trees, people were hoping to see John Lennon which didn't happen (3 months before his untimely despair) even though Sir Elton sang Imagine at the show.

  • How come it's cut so short? Was it edited for the video release?

  • yeah I guest back in the 80s when it first came out, I see how alot of companys such as Eagle Rock are coming out with classic concerts I hope this ones on their list, I personally think Elton's performing better then ever but thisshow is a stepping stone for him and it deserves superb sound and picture which this video I uploaded provides an aqudete response but not at all compare to a good one, yes the extra songs must be in too! full setlist. thanks for commenting and subscribing ^^

  • Oh - to the powers that be.. Mike mansfield, Elton, HBO - whoever owns the masters... PLEASE consider a release to DVD! Both Region 1 and Region 2 - I had this on PAL Betamax back in the day...

  • Master Elton.

  • @imachildofthe80s8089 1980 saw several good ones come forward: Pat Benatar, The Pretenders, B52s, Judas Priest took off like a rocket, Led Zeppelin "In Through The Outdoor" didn't hurt for sales, Scorpions (In the states), Queen's "The Game" album was beyond a smash as was AC/DC "Back In Black", etc. Plenty from that era to explore.

  • EXELENTE!!!!!

  • god dammit i love this song

  • What a rip off, they cut out the whole second verse.

  • Eltonator - This wasn't edited, just missing one verse. So many songs, so little time...

  • He didn't leave it out, at 2:17 you can see that the video is spliced (quite poorly I may add), so they must have been shortening it for TV.

  • I was so love in love with Elton John when he sang Blue Eyes. I knew he was sanging that song to me as a 2 year old baby boy with blue eyes. It's one of the only good memories I'll ever know of my absentee dad who played the guitar and sang it to me. I haven't seen him since I was 6.

  • what about Grow Some Funk of Your Own Burn Down The Mission and Jamaican Jerk-Off? those were great too. And Think I'm Gonna Kill Myself

  • 1980 the year of my birth. But a devastating year of music. IMPO 1980 was off to a rough start. It was the demise of the Eagles and the Doobie Brothers. Fleetwood Mac's success would wan but Stevie Nicks was starting a great solo career so that was a plus. John Lennon had the best comeback(and album of his career and had found a peace he never knew in his life only to have it taken away) Songs were getting way to soft. But Diana Ross kept up the great beat with diana. And Olivia was smokin hot
