Here are a few bars of the Glasgow Reel on the Epiphone mandocello. I'm playing along with a fiddle and guitar mp3 track that I found on line.

1951 Epiphone K-5 style mandocello with D'Addario J78 phosphor-bronze strings and a Clayton Acetyl Polymer pick (0.63 mm)

  • @amarcordeon I thank you for listening to my early effort -- I hope to spend much more time learning the mandocello.

  • Bernie, that is a beast! You are doing much better than I am on the cello, It's tough finding the time, but great stuff and keep it up....fantastic...

  • @ToshMarshall Tosh great to hear from you and thanks for the kind words. I have to agree with you the mandocello is a monster to play -- after an hour playing on it the mandolin seems like a toy! (<: This Epiphone is a guitar conversion so the neck is wide -- I am slow getting used to it but some day I will either fix this one or go for a new conversion. I do love the Jumbo body -- big sound. Cheers!

  • VERY GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Bidyyy Thank you very much. I am still learning my way around on this big fretboard! (<:

  • @sizefam4 Thanks GS! Yes the mandocello is a fun thing to (try to) play. It is great for stretching the left hand thats for sure. Gibson did make a mandobass called the Style J -- but I don't have one! (<:

  • Great stuff! Where did u come up with a mandocello? Never heard of that one. Do they have a mando bass as well? Great playing on the tune!!

  • @AlanFrance21 OK, sounds like a great way to get attention then! I think I'll get a kilt to wear whenever I play a Scottish tune -- I'll have to do some research to find my tartan.

  • Let the wind blow high,

    Let the wind blow low,

Through the streets in ma kilt I'll go,

    All the lassies say "Hello!"

    "Donald- where's your troosers! "
