  • Damn, I saw Randy in the 1980's in Washington DC with none other than the late-great Mitch Mitchell on drums. There was an early show and a late show scheduled, but ticket sales were light so they decided to do one longer show. There couldn't have been more than 100 people there. Mitch came out to the bar for a pint and was wearing this sequential lighted belt that kept circling his waist. Randy and crew took the stage and blazed through two hours of sonic Hendrix bliss... Priceless.

  • @smmfc : Great story!

  • We've heard Eric Johnson cover this one. His playing is 'technically' perfect, but honestly Randy's playing has the required over the top tone and volume, is "less perfect" but more true to the spirit of the song than Eric's. Especially the Vibrato work. Eric plays like he doesn't want to break his. Randy doesn't give a damn, it's balls to the wall. I like it. Great great performance. Bravo!

  • @dennisl2008 : Nice assessment! =)

  • One night my sister called me from this bar near my house, said get your ass over here there is a guy playing hendrix and you gotta hear him. Yeah right I thought just another guy butchering the music, but it was fuckin randy hansen and it blew my mind. This guy is incredible, sure am glad I got my ass out there to see it.

  • @JBG58 : Great story! RH is the Best!

  • @dennisl2008 So true... While I love Eric Johnson and SRV as well, I always thought those guys were a bit too "precise" in capturing the Hendrix vibe. Jimi was raw, to the extent that he was on the edge of being out of control of his sound, which if you listen to a lot of his live performances, he was. Randy captures that Hendrix edge better than anyone I've ever heard.

  • saw this guy play in the mid 80's at The Flying Dutchman in Charleston SC he was awesome then ,and he still got it

  • @dennisl2008 wOW This guy is so much FUN!

  • interesting fact, randy has the same birthday as Jim Morrison, another sagitarrius like Jimi

  • Man, you must be black inside.....great job

  • We are experienced....

  • Love this video.Even though Jimi is gone from this plane Its really cool to see that there are some musicians that will go through the places to duplicate jimi style of playing then again who wouldn't want to share his glory. This guy is awesome. thanks for posting enjoyed viewing it.

  • That was fucking amazing when he was near the end it brought a tear to my eye and gave me gooses bumbs
