  • That the deaf community is so incensed by Evelyn Glennie is amazing. Evelyn is PROFOUNDLY hard of hearing (deaf). What she has achieved is considered by most to be inspirational and not some sort of cheap trick. Evelyn will not be drawn into what has become a rather dull topic and just gets on with doing the best she can with what she has - Can all the detractors who churn out these endless and often unfounded criticisms say the same? Please research your facts and dont publish gossip. Thx.

  • Great work here!! What's the name of the song? Shadow? Or is that the name of the festival?

  • The festival was in Eindheoven (Holland) and called 'Tromp'. It was also a competition for young musicians and this particular year 2006, focussed on Percussion.

  • Offensive or pointless criticism will be removed folks. Say whatever you want but be warned and please be constructive - thx, 'onefunkymoped'

  • PLEASE STOP debating about her handicap...appreciate the talent. Cant people ever stop being meaninglessly analytical?

  • No sé si los sonidos los hace con la bocao realmente ocn el instrumento el tipo.

  • I took lessons with her over the course of several years and she naturally had a profound effect on me and my playing. My sister was born deaf and I was able to introduce them once. This influenced my sister to eventually become the best lip-reader and vocalizer in her entire school. Evelyn is pure positive energy. Talk about an awesome group, too! Trilok and Frith?! :D

  • Would like to see Evelyn and Marilyn Mazur perform together. Has that ever happened?

  • This lady is really amazing !

Up to now I didn't know that she has a severe handicap with hearing.

WOW ! - I take my hat off to her. What a wonderful sense for sound she has,

so inspiring, magic and uplifting !

Thank you for this video !

  • She doesn't consider it herself as a handicap. SORRY, but I just had to say it.

    Wonderful music.

  • Very few people are fully deaf, i think only about 4% of deaf people I heard once (dont quote me on it though). Evelyn is profoundly deaf. Which means a sound has to be at 90dB or louder for her to hear it. It is the most severe deafness before being able to hear nothing at all

  • qu'elle soit completement sourde ou pas du tout, ne change rien a son talent. Aprecier l?artiste!!!

  • i don't think she is completely deaf.. but yeah imagine only being about to hear the most basic part of a sound.. to the point where you get more out of feeling it.. I don't know but I think she's a really unique and interesting soul that is worth listening to.

  • LOL
