http://www.keepturningleft.co.uk/ Thanks for looking at this little film I posted over a year ago. Thanks to you people it has been a most entertaining couple of months
5 million hits - it started out with just sailors and a few two ronnies fans (yes the joke was meant to be there} then it hit face book and on its best day got 450,000 hits - it has just revently hit twitter with the polarvortex thing and now is back to around 100,000 a day
the little thing over the flower pot is a squished tealight surround
I do not think the size of the flower pots makes much difference - as long as there is a passage between them for the air to flow up - once hot it does move pretty fast due to convection - as I explained in the words.
They are candles and it is a naked flame - keep an eye on it - do not add loads of extra candles - or use plastic flower pots .... well duh!
I posted this last year when tealights were going for £1 a pack - feel free to post that you can pay more than that from ebay or Asda of even Ikea or Harrods - prices change .
Feel free to post that this will never work because you have to factor in the cost of driving to Ikea in your Mercedes
or that this will never heat a 5,000 square feet house in Canada in February.
As it says in the film this is for a home office - you can see it is a small room where two computers are running - I earn my crust editing videos. The Central heating is off, there is no fire in the woodburner in the ground floor room during the day. When I had CRTs the room was generally warm enough - now that I have flat screens there is less heat being wasted
but it is still brass monkeys in there unless I run the heater - then it becomes bearable
I am also wearing at least three layers of clothes. If I had shed loads of money or a big efficient house or I lived in a country where electricity was only three zloties a pound then I would not be pishing about with candles and flower pots.
Feel free to point out that your room is bigger than mine.
This is the web - you can say pretty much what you like
yes candles do give off C02 - but how many people do you know who have had a nice candle lit bath or shag and completely failed to suffocate themselves with Co2 or poison themselves with CO.
yes cats might knock it over
Thanks for the thermodynamic lessons from the from the crypto scientists. Agreed there is not much energy in a few tealights but this makes the most of anything that is available by getting a nice convection going - it is like the difference between a radiant one bar fire and a convection heater - more air movement - fewer cold spots. In the winter I have it down to one side of my desk on the floor on a steel tray - not a copy of PBO.
Blimey there are some dozy people on this planet
- but there are also some lovely people on youtube and I have had some very kind emails - but there are also a lot of nirks out there. - say what you like twassocks ducks back.... water
If it makes any difference to anyone at all I am not earning a brass farthing from this vid as I am not in adsense nor is this a cunning advertorial sponsored by Ikea and.or Practical Boat Owner. Can you imagine the flip chart meeting with the publicity people from PBO, Ikea and KTL. I did ask PBO if they would like to send me a bottle of scotch in retunr for the 5 million hits.... there are few things tighter than a magazine publisher and IPC take the biscuit
story of how I got dumped from Adsense is here http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/11/c...
