A 'Big Shift' from the 20th century, a time defined by hyper-consumption, to a 21st century age of Collaborative Consumption, is underway.
Collaborative Consumption describes the rapid explosion in traditional sharing, bartering, lending, trading, renting, gifting, and swapping redefined through technology and peer communities. www.collaborativeconsumption.com
It is the subject of a new book, What's Mine is Yours: The Rise of Collaborative Consumption, by Rachel Botsman and Roo Rogers.

Love your TedX talk and this great encapsulated version! Thanks for making it easy to share, especially given our limited attention spans!
I found you when the video was recommended by someone on gameful.org, an online community for people wanting to see games for social change). Gameful is a space you and/or your fans might like to come join (started by Jane McGonigal, another dynamic TEDTalk presenter!

@Arlecchino88 OK, so you are saying you are realistic, not sarcastic, and that's why you are just sitting around doing nothing for ourselves, I get it. Well, that's fine, I guess. But I recommend this book to people like you, because I am kind of like you, and still enjoyed the book. You might find it interesting that this book doesn't go against your theory. We can't look to humanity to save ourselves. That's the whole point of the book, actually.

@torukakisawa Cool, good thing I wasn't being sarcastic then. Sharing will not save humanity. It will be abused. We can't look to humanity to save ourselves.
