i realy have a thing for the first {98) r1. just like the zx 10, it was an anti social bike that was hard to drive, with too much power. because of this, you never see one today as they are mostly all written off. to my amazment , i spotted this one on the by pass in ballincollig cork. he tried to evade me by taking off......
the 98 r1 was hard to drive my ass, ive got one, and shes smoother then the back of your mothers thighs after she shaves. yeh?

hmm, lots for sale in the netherlands. I first wanted a blue one, but I'm glad I bought this model. Power smooths out a lot with a dynokit, I don't really experience a sudden power surge. With the dynokit, mine makes 150 bhp at the backwheel according to the dynorun. A bit optimistic I believe, but enough to have some fun.

strange i have one in these colours and they are rare in the u.k yamaha only made them in this colour for 6 months the blue being far more popular at time. In fact all R1 4XV models in good condition are already going up in value due to the fact so many were crashed the 4XV model is well know to be the hardest R1 to master due to the power delivery which comes on quite brutally all 150bhp. yamaha in 1999 came out with the 5JJ model which softened the power delivery and made it easier to ride
