This is showing more proof of the hidden Recovery Menu in Firmware 2.50. To access this yourself (with firmware 2.50 only) follow these steps.
- Place your PS3 in STANDBY mode - Hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps. - If it goes into the video reset setting then you messed up, and do it again till you hear a double beep.
UPDATE: This method seems to be still working with current firmwares (2.52+) so it's a Sony supported feature and wasn't placed into the update by accident. Again, sorry for the crappy quality but here you can see that it can be done and the steps are listed above.

OK so I knew about this and I used to do it when my PS3 would act funny but now, it wont even access this recovery mode. All it does is go black like its about to take me there and then it skips to normal boot up... Anybody know what the deal is? Also sometimes I get this blue screen written in all languages and then my PS3 will either rebuild itself or in one case reformat everything.
