  • Oh my gosh... I was there at the theater with all of them that entire weekend. I drove Leon and Sandman around. Was one of the team that produced this show. How wonderful to see this....

  • @lotushenna WOW! You were around genius men... :)

  • The guy with the broom was cleaning and watching rehearsals and he told Leon that he loved classical music and so Leon danced for HIM! That's how he was..I remember him telling the story when he came back from LA - its wonderful to see it again......Thanks for posting his work......brillant dancer, extraordinary in all ways.....CB (Hetherington) Clara Brosnaham

  • Thanks for posting this, Jumaane. Just came across it after all this time!

  • @clarabwellnessdirLMT : ...CB Hetherington!....How are you?Have you been in Germany all these years? Are you still teaching Leon Collins tap routines?from Joe "Buck and Wing"Stirling's son, John Stirling!

  • Yes, I was amazingly lucky. That show had Leon, Sandman, Al de Sio, Fayard Nicholas, Chance Taylor (at 12 years old!), Linda Sohl-Ellison and her group, Jenny Lane, Chester Whitmore, Jimmy Slyde, many many others that I forget, but all on the same bill. And jazz drummer Louie Bellson and his band.

  • If anyone is interested in the full documentary that this clip was lifted from, it is called Songs Unwritten: A Tap Dancer Remembered. It is available on DVD through The Leon Collins Archive PO Box 175, Merion Station, PA 19066.
