John Smith is working as Frollo's guard - when he sees something strange and lethal in a beautiful gypsy dancer, he suddenly finds himself in a whole different body - from now on, he's a dog. Of course nobody else notices anything - all that the humans are seeing, is a dancing woman, giving a show for the nobles.

John/Steele wanders around, furious and devastated, having nowhere to go, nothing to do with himself. Until he meets a young thief - Odette - that offers to steal an amulet, that can turn John back into a human, that is...

Even though she's probably setting a trap, instead of telling the whole truth. Because John's life is hard and he meets beautiful women only when they want to do something bad to him - as in 'feed you to the hell hounds' bad not 'i want to have kinky sex on the kitchen counter while your aunt is in the next room' bad.

John is what you may call a quasi-vampire [because Sauda said Steele IS a vampire and she featured him in her video], that do not have ALL of the abilities of other vampires BUT in exchange the sunlight cannot hurt him [because I love Blade to the point of buying his figure, harr].

John doesn't know his parents - he was always alone, living on the streets, managing to get by thanks to his 'special' skills. He's not dumb, though, and he IS aware of the fact he's not exactly normal.
He is stronger and faster than a normal human being - he also can sense supernatural creatures and objects [that's why he's the only one to see Circe's 'true' eyes, as well as the physical manifestation of her magic].

The thirst for blood was always tugging at John's senses but he managed to successfully fight it. All in all, John is a decent person and tries to be as normal as he can. He works as a guard or mercenary for various nobles - he's excellent at what he does, thanks to his supernatural skills. He never stays long at one place, though, as he doesn't want anybody to get a little -too- curious about him.

STEELE

After Circe turned John, his attitude changed dramatically - to put it blunt, he was pissed off like nobody's business. Here he was, being a good citizent and a nice human being, trying NOT to harm anyone, especially not the innocent people - and somebody turned him into a friggin' DOG? Bitch. Please.
He suddenly feels that feeding on somebody's blood is more appealing than ever before.

{ PERSONALITY }

John was a loyal companion. He was as normal as he could be - with the typical flaws of an average human. John would never willingly harm an innocent person and he was especially focused on protecting children, having a soft spot for them.
Steele, however...

If he'd ever fall in love, he would probably be blinded by it and would do anything for his beloved - as long as he could see that the feeling is genuine on both sides, that is.
