@BloozeDaddy76 If you are referring to Tommy James in the '60's as " the lightweight, bubblegum sounding original version from the 60's", I must disagree with you. They were right on with sound and clarity with each instrument playing an intramental part in the song (each holding weight). It was cleverly done then for what it was then. Not that this version is bad; it's not. But they can better improve clarity and instrumental quality; much like what Eric Clapton has with his music.
The way Tommy plays this song today is much better than the lightweight, bubblegum sounding original version from the 60's. He adds a little meat and edge and brings out the full potential of the song now where it totally rocks.
Tommy's voice is scary good.
