We visited San Diego's Oasis skatepark in '79 and '80. It was soooo hot. I remember buying my first DEVO t shirt from a local skater. Any one knows who that little ripper on his big Dogtown board is??

  • its tony, he got a dogtown triplane deck

  • Invert alreadyy

  • Tony was upsessed with Oasis then he skated for the dog town team, they lost buisness, and Stacy took him onto his team, he also came to love Del Mar skatepark

  • I was in an am contest here in about 1978. I broke my truck in the next pool over and had to withdraw. A kid I knew won the am. I do not remember his name.

We had two days to practice in the pool and the pros did too. They let one of the days overlap and it was hell for we shorty's to charge the pool against the LA teenagers. That sucked.

I made the local news crashing while being asked by a news crew to do the slolam against a known pro (do not recall his name). I had a 10" wide deck

  • wow amazing footage!

  • What I remember from San Diego, besides Oasis being so much fun, was that it was hot, hot ,hot!

  • @djSnobro Yep. I remember it well. I used to be a "Val" skater back then. I skated at the old Skater Cross skatepark and the Boogie Bowl in '79. After my dad died my mom and I moved back down to San Diego where I skated at Oasis Skatepark almost every day. Tony was skating there when he was about 10 or 11 years old. Burt Lamar won the bowl and half-pipe comp there that year. That place was a lot of fun.

  • He just tweeted it!

  • Yep, we were skating and filming, but we didn't know at the time who that skater was. I just got confirmation from Jason Parks, a Oasis local who skated with us last weekend in Dusseldorf that it was in fact footage of mr. Hawk. It would be nice if I could show it to Tony himself.
