This song is from the Bengali film 'Chhadmabeshi' (1942) with Jahar Ganguly and Dipti Roy in the lead roles, and with music by SDB. The movie and its music were big successes. The movie was remade in Hindi as Chupke Chupke..which again SDB scored the music for, 32 years later.

Oops,Thank you so much,both of you!,at least I get a better image now!By the way,what is Rasa Rushi-?Better not try to guess...Wish I had a Bengali dictionary without having to learn the script.....:)His way of choosing instruments,combined with his voice,especially in the "simple" Bengali songs,is what I love best.

Not only long neck. Look at His extra large ears! He was particular about the sounds to be included in a particular song without clouding the voice. A 'Rasa Rushi' for me !That is why His music is so Divine.

To madhubala2009:here 'bandar' means 'port'. The first line means 'Leave the port all ye passengers/travellers, Today the tide has come.'

The way he looks exactly like long necked skinny bird,it is too cute,on top of the excellent music and the intriguing song-I suppose bandar is monkey or is this another of my hilarious mistakes?
