As a life long Westies fan I'll never knock Ian Borchard for his Jack Oatey Medal win in this game, he was simply brilliant that hot day, but I have always thought both Randall Bennett and Leon Grosser were unlucky not to win the medal. All 3 players easily outplayed their Sturt opponents and any of them would have been worthy winners. Even Michael Graham probably came into consideration. He was the only Sturt winner that day, Motley, Davies & Whittlesea were well held.

Along with the old Port Adelaide jumper.I think the old Sturt football jumper is the best in footy. I was so impressed by it,I bought a Sturt jumper myself. And I live in Melbourne!

Such a sad shame about Motely. I'm only young but I know the tragic story.
