@andrew49848 You need a processor to interpret the information, loads of memory to save it, and a powerful computer to even read it... Of course there is testing going on. The military and other groups have ridiculously powerful cameras but they're also huge compared to the ones we use.
@RoyBolinggoing You are correct; P-N junctions are used in diodes, which only allow flow in the direction the diode is pointing. In the same respect, transistors consist of PNP and NPN junctions that act differently when the central semiconductor receives current, essentially turning that semiconductor "off" or "on". Hence transistors usage as switches in circuits.
I am having trouble understanding PN junctions and their practical application - I want to know if I am correct in thinking that they are like a valve which only allows electricity to flow in one direction. By doping silicon with another element to create a negative and positive region. Please could someone in the know let me know.
