My great grandfather, Ray Kanoff, who was a pharmacists mate who became chief petty officer in the hospital corps, actually helped put together this memorial, put together a book about the ship and her sailors, and was even made executive director, which meant that he was in charge of all of the renunions until his deah in 1995, when I was only a few months old. God rest his soul.

i come fron holland and i love the South Dakota it's my most favorite ship on NavyField bcuz it got power and high speed for me it's better then Iowa and the North Carolina line!

My Grandfather was on this ship, worked as a cook and a machine gunner . He passed away in Dec 08. Im just glad to see ther are others out ther that can appreciate this ship

I can be wrong but im pretty sure..

that big ship at 1:29 is actually Yamato,But good footage not so impressed by the music
