Fantail
(Rhipidura fuliginosa) Piwakawaka
Although one of New Zealand's commonest birds, it is much loved for it's perky dancing character, aerobatics and tameness.

  • Great video, my kids spent the day with me at work today and I was able to show them a fantail that has been hanging around on site for a couple of weeks.

The sandflies were prolific and 'Meepy' (as he was promptly named) was very obliging at removing them. The kids thought he was great and know we are watching yours on youtube :-)

  • i love it when they follow close to u when walking lol

  • fantails ♥ . They're such cute, curious (and smart!) little things ^-^

  • Abigail Fantail couldn't keep still, dipping and diving and flying at will...

    Awesome, thanks for sharing.

  • Even though there are some beautiful birds in the UK I do miss native NZ birds and especially fantails... :-/

  • I agree, I'm amazed how well you followed it, I know how hard they are to capture...energetic little things!

  • NICE camera work ! Esp the first half .... Well done !
