Are Independent Black women Wifey Material

I do believe it is empowering for black women to think of themselves as independent I don't want to take that away from you. But don't think that being independent also mean that your a good women for your man, because that is not always true.

What other qualites about you that you can offer to a man? And if you do have those qualites prove it. Its different when saying then it is doing.

I agree with most of what you said. What I don't agree with is the statement that women want to handle the man's role and the women's role. What I've encountered is women who want a man to pay for everything and for her to complain about a woman's role to take care of the household. Women say things like, "I don't like to cook." or "I am not cleaning up nobody's house." while also saying "I want a man who can fix my car." or "I want a man to pay my bills."

There is nothing wrong with a black woman wanting to be independent(i.e. pay her own bills, make her own money, and do whatever she wants to do.) A lot of independent women mess up by carrying this mindset that "they don't need anybody" on to relationships and it turns guys off. When you are in a stable relationship you don't have to act like you are alone anymore, you have a mate now.

@tonyanthemz Yes exactly. I also don't understand the concept of 'equally yoked' as most people put it. Right now my fiance earns more than me, but when I land the job I want with my degree I will earn more than him. We both still contribute and take care of one another. His check has always been to pay our bills and keep up with child support ect. A lot of women feel if a man don't make what they do, he's not worth it. You can make more, and he can still be the man. They are simps.

I do not think I have to take care of a grown woman as if she is a child...its 2012 not 1912- its about what we both bring to the table financially, emotionally, and spiritually...

A lot of these independent black women are full of shit. They say they want good black men but when a good man comes their way he's "not on her level". Thinking she is above everyone. Some of them are loud and have really fucked up attitudes. An independent black woman is a headache. A trap

So PLS STOP acting like being on your damn own makes you so 'independent'. I think a woman should have her own career ect, but the man should still beable to be the caretaker of the family. Even if the woman makes more money, the man should still beable to take care of her. Which is another reason why so many of these 'women' think people aren't 'on their level'. If you didn't need a man for anything, it wouldn't be meant for you to be with one.

Im not saying that being an independent woman is good or bad. What Im saying is the psychology of a good relationship is so jacked up in this country that I might have to date someone from outside the US just to get fresh perspective of what a relationship could be without the residue of slavery and sabotage. Similar to Michelle and Obama. Obama has absolutely no slave residue unlike Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
