I disagree with the family rating. When I was growing up, our Dachshund craved attention from anyone in the family. She never snapped once. Of course, watching this video, it seems that my dog was an exception from what to expect from the breed!

I think that these dogs are very good with family my cousins own a dachshund and I'm still waiting for mine to be old enough to go home with me but they are very sweet and awesome family dogs

@wnye doxies are one of the hardest breeds to potty train... it took mine 3 years! shes such a brat but i love her!!<3

My first dachshund used to do that, it was so hilarious! lol.

My long-haired dachshund is very calm and friendly. Definitely not brave, but does love to burrow into tight spaces when outside. Her personality is so calm and loving that she is a wonderful therapy dog.

I have a 2 year old Daschund, Sosis and he's sooo friendly and loves it when there are people around to accompany him so I don't know if Daschund's not being a good family pet is accurate because my Sosis is awesome with people. One thing that we still haven't managed to do is house training. Any tips and ideas on this matter? We bring him out twice a day. One in the morning and one in the evening.

@wnye If a dog isn't potty trained it's the peoples fault. Until your dog is trained, you must take it out every 2 hours...not twice a day. Once they are trained, they will hold it and you can go longer. But the training period is every 2 hours. Teach it the word "Go pee pee"...then when the she goes...praise her with "Good Girl". You have to stay vigilant but she will learn. Dachshunds are difficult to train because they are stubborn and have selective hearing, but stick with it.
