Sikhidhvaja knows the teachings but has not yet realised the truth directly. His spiritual path cannot lead him there. Many of us are in this position. We see that there is something there but we cannot quite get ourselves there even with the help of a teacher! The Truth cannot be comprehended.

Is Sikhidhvaja a seeker or a spiritual practitioner? When the truth is realised then the true struggle begins.

Sikhidhvaja knows he is pure consciousness. Is this simply a statement of the teaching or is it from his own realisation? It could be from his realisation in which case he still has to deal with his own innate tendencies. It can be distressing. Saintly people often describe themselves as sinners because they see how they are in the light of their realisation of the truth.

Christ's temptations in the wilderness. Christ had to keep reminding himself of his true nature and not give in to the appeals to the ego by Satan.

Kumbha asks Sikhidhvaja to examine his ignorance. Is it real? Maybe there need not be any struggle at all! Sikhidhvaja talks again about his struggle. Kumbha directs him once again to whether the ego is real or not. Is there even a real cause?

He sees experience as the cause of egosense. Kumbha enquires into the reality or otherwise of the cause.

Diplopia, double-vision.

What is the reality underpinning our ideas and notions?
