For today's Blowing the Dust Out of the Cartridge That Is My Mind, I take a look at my earliest video game memory. It happens to be of Atari and the original Super Mario Bros.
@dwharris79 That's awesome! I never had an experience like that, as I was too young to be hanging out on my own at that time. I usually played alone or with a sibling or cousin. The first system we had at my house though was the NES, and this Mario video sums up the feeling nicely.
(cont.) I miss those days when a fellow gamer would come up to you and say "Hey, do you mind if I join in with you?" and I would say "Yeah man, let's play!". Then you'd be best friends for the duration of your game time together on that machine, and then politely part ways after your quarters or patience were expended.
@coluch I fondly remember the cocktail table machines in my local pizza joints. Some of my first memories of video games are of those style machines and the regular stand-up cabinets. Coin-Op gaming is nothing like it was in the late 1970s and 1980s, which I think is unfortunate. (cont.)
Mr. Mann! How does one obtain this sweet serenade for later enjoyment? Brilliant memory. Mine are similar, but involve Commodore 64, Amiga systems, and in-table-top pac man. I love how the music enhances the feeling of the memory.
Sooooo. . . anyone want to sponser an all out production of GameJew's "The Mario Opera?" Anyone who didn't get to see it would totally love it----so much nostalgia in one awesome 3 act rock opera and fantastic music to boot (of course all Mario related) I'm for pushing this forward as much as I can . . . can I enlist help from anyone?????
@Bobintheb0x nevermind, I'm dumb :-)
