Why didn't you guys touch upon the Yakuza? They were huge, and still are, in the sports word. Especially in Pride back in the day

Because I like having all my fingers attached to my hand, thank you very much ;) ha, really, what is there to say? They have their hands in every wrestling promotion there seemingly without fail and it usually doesn't come to light until after the company goes under (Pride, as you mentioned, FMW, etc.) Of course, YOU can go in to detail about it all you want, heh, but I just really feel there's not much to say about it actually

You know it's easy (ish ) to do rants like so many others do on youtube about why WCW were put out of business, but to discuss the art of wrestling and also another culture with respect is brilliant. I say this as someone who doesn't follow Puroresu. This is the finest video yet in my humble opinion.

The UWF and all its diaspora was awesome. Are awesome.

Even if you don't like shoot-style, you have to respect their skills if you think grappling is a worthwhile art at all. Volk Han, Kiyoshi Tamura, Masakatsu Funaki, Minoru Suzuki, Sakuraba...Yoshiaki Fujiwara....Minoru Tanaka...Shoichi Funaki....Tsuyoshi Khosaka...those men put on beautiful matches and showcased oft-times innovative techniques.

And they held back more on their submissions than some seem to think.

Just asking: When you consider worst Puro wrestlers, how come no one mentioned Raja Lion? He probably takes the cake as worst wrestler of all time.

Where non-Japanese stars in Japan are concerned, I think "Dr. Death" Steve Williams deserves a big nod. The guy was a quick, intense, agile big man -- if not quite giant-sized one -- that brought a real sense of physicality to his matches. He and Hansen were well-matched in the ring, even if Hansen's wrestling chops weren't quite on the same level.

I think that puro is like kungfu movies mixed with pro wrestling and it's a respected and honored sport/art as well.

@WrestlingRoundtable u talk about Inoki participating in shoot fights, i remember a match where he was told by Karl Gotch to use a real submission on Bruno Sammartino, and EPIC FAIL, Sammartino powers out and beats down Inoki, practically scared Inoki enough to make him duck Sammartino the rest of that match.

@WrestlingRoundtable By that "AJPW group" did you mean Kawada, Misawa, Kobashi, Akiyama and Taue, or was it other wrestlers aswell? Plus what did you think of Chono, Mutoh and Hashimoto's group?

What are your opinions on Takayama and Kensuke Sasaki?

Eric do you think marufuji could be superstar of the year for 2010? Because IMO he is the superstar of the year for 2010
