Episode 22;

Demi and Kevin are talking over a cup of coffee, going over their briefing when Joe's voice rings through the mansion. "Demi!" He yells loudly as Demi pushes out of her seat to meet him at the stairs.
"What are you doing out of bed?" She slightly scolds.
He ignores her, as usual. "Where's Vanessa?"
Joe was impatient and on edge and he didn't appreciate that Demi was holding back on the answers to his questions. "What the fuck, Demi?"
"You're on detox, Joe. Stop." She interrupts as she shook her head. "Why'd you talk th IV off? You're dehydrated."
He gradually got angry with her. "I don't give a fuck about all that bullshit. I need to know where the hell Vanessa is. You did get her, right?"
"Hey." Kevin cuts in, who had followed Demi to the bottom of the stairs. "I don't care if you're still in recovery, pretty boy. You better start gaining some respect or I'll snap you right back into bed."
Demi looks back at Joe, the intensity never leaving his face. She eventually gives in. "She's in the last door down the hall."
Joe quickly sprints back up what was left of the stairs before Kevin and Demi return to the dining room. "You don't let him, or anyone for that matter, talk to you like that, Demi."
She sighs softly. "Cut him some slack."
"Stop spreading yourself so thin for this kid, Demi. Remember who you are and what you stand for." He says firmly before hearing Demi's chair screech against the floor.
"I remember every fucking day, Kevin. Events like this? How can you forget when you've always got a reminder knocking at your doorstep?!" She lashes out, taking her anger out on him.
"Don't be angry, Demetria. Stop being so angry at who you are because it sticks. It won't change and you're gonna have to accept it whether you like it or not."
Demi takes a few moments to calm her breathing before looking up at him. Suddenly Kevin gives her a small and teasing grin. "You could have so easily just killed him yourself. Well you didn't. Now suck it up; just because he'd rather see that other girl more than you.." Kevin scoffs. "Don't let him get in your head."

As Joe was walking back to his room, from trying to shed a little light on Vanessa, he remembered Demi. The sudden pang of guilt of him yelling at her made him realize that he hadn't even thanked her. Conveniently, Kevin had been roaming around the kitchen long enough for Joe to find him and ask where Demi was.
Joe was hesitant, thinking Kevin would give him a hard time but he was pleased to see him with a cocky grin. "She's out by the pool."
He was about to thank Kevin when he patted Joe's bruised cheek. "Dick." He muttered as Kevin walked away with a soda.
"Why are you still off the IV?" Demi asks before Joe could even get to her. To think he'd get used to her having eyes on the back of her head.
He went up to her, holding his bruised stomach. "Figured I'd come and ask you to come accompany me to bed, given this afternoon's events." He tried with a hopeful smirk.
Joe slowly frowns when she turns to him with a hard expression. She meant business. "What the hell were you thinking?"
Joe remained quiet. "No, I get it. You wanna see her. I mean, after all I did isolate you from what you had but Joe.. I told you to be careful. I told you to sober up!" She continues, making Joe cringe shamefully about the stash he figured she had found in the car.
"Baby.." He sighs.
"I told you not to call me that!" She snaps, turning away from her.
He took another step forward and another so that his front was against her back. He ignored the pain as her back grazed against his bruise. He placed a gentle hand on her hip as he lightly nudged his nose against her hair. "But baby, you like it when I call you that."
Joe earned himself a growl of disapproval. "I'm glad you came when you did.. I-I'm glad you saved her.."
Demi's teeth gritted together, ignoring the overwhelming feeling she had with the contact. "I would have reacted the same way if it was you.." He cooed in his raspy, sexy voice.
Demi kept silent despite the disgust she felt over Joe's realization of her jealousy; how he knew the right things to say. How he had a choke hold on her. But she'd never tell him that. Never.
