Robert Smith Interview 1986 in a Munich Beergarden by Babette Einstmann

Interview June 15th, 1986
Munich, Germany, somewhere in a beer garden.

(In the video it shows '85, but that must be wrong, since he talks about their gig the day before at Nürburgring playing on the same bill with Simple Minds, which was the Rock am Ring-Festival on June 14th 1986.)

It was broadcast in a Cure-Special on german tv in 1992.

The interviewer is Babette Einstman, who some years later became famous on german TV as a TV presenter.

If I find out how to add subtitles, I might add them later or post it here, as I think her stupid translations and comments are quite essential to the fun and dumbness of the whole interview ;-)

this couldnt of been made 1986, because in the background fascination street is playing whih was made in 1989

@80smusicisawesome the interview really is from 1986, but the tv-show was made and broadcast in the early 90s. they showed a short excerpt of fascination street live in leipzig 1990 before they faded into this old interview from the archive. :-)

how many of you actually speak german? i believe that when she first translates robert, she slips her own point of view to the simple minds in it, telling that she likes them. not that big of a deal, but no one asked her opinion about them

@hellyfornication exactly, she tells to the audience that he didn't like the simple minds too much, which was a question of taste, she herself finds them super. Interestingly, Robert noticed this too "you didn't say awful, did you?" :-D

Haha, that's because right before they faded into this interview they were showing a minute of Live in Leipzig 1990 (btw great footage and nice version of fascination street)
