@drums4hire Not only that....they're out of their fucking mind's! Travis is a good drummer, not great, Neil idolizes Buddy and would be the first to say he doesn't have anything near the natural skill, fast hands or most importantly..... feel! Jo Jo is amazing and reminds me a lot of Buddy and truly one of the greats! As is Whekl, Caliauta, Chambers, Jimbo, Gadd and so many other drummers famous for being so, not just because they're in a flavor of the day 'Pop Band'.

someone told me that apparently, buddy was known to be an arrogant person. is this true?
-
Anyone notice his double bass tech? 1:05 watch his right hand.
-
There is no comparison, Phil.
Past or present ....Buddy Rich is the best to ever sit behind a set of skins....BAR NONE.
-
without buddy their would be no john bonham etc etc.
-
@drums4hire the best drummer of all time are probably jazz drummers or the one o get influenced by them...

Preach it Phil Ambros. No one did what he did as a drummer, bandleader, vaudeville performer, actor, singer, dancer, comedian. He endured the swing, bebop, rock n' roll, MTV generation and still was the top of the heap! Oh, one other thing, he was 67!!! when this was shot,... two years before he lost his fight to cancer in '87. Travis Barker!?! yeah, right, I'd love to see him try to play the Buddy Rich Big Band chart book night after night with this intensity at that age.

Buddy is king!!!

"I prefer Jo Jo Mayer", "Neil Peart is better" and finally "Travis Barker brings a whole new level of sportsmanship and flair to drumming."
To all those who made those comments, and many more, where the fuck do you think these guys got their influences from? Buddy, Gene, Philly Jo, Joe Morello etc.
Maybe some of your guys have progressed and taken drumming to another level, but you can always trace their drumming roots back to the old school guys.
Take a history lesson morons!!!!
